Eight miles, eight viewpoints–the signature canyon experience.

Except from March 1 to November 30 when private vehicles are allowed, the Hermit Road viewpoints are accessible only by the RED shuttle route to Hermits Rest. Or by bike or foot on the 7.8-mile (one-away) Canyon Rim Trail. It’s not as hard as it sounds. The flat path winds along the rim with stunning views between the viewpoints. Many hike to Mohave Point (3 mi.) or the Abyss Overlook (4.1 mi. total), then take the Shuttle to Hermits Rest, then back to the Village.

Using the Shuttle

The shuttle stops at the viewpoints every 15–30 minutes depending on time of day. Buses returning from Hermits Rest stop only at Mohave and Hopi Points. The round trip with nine stops takes 80 minutes, running from 5 am to one hour after sunset.
