Hopi Point

Sunset circus

At sunset you’ll be shooting over someone’s shoulder if you don’t arrive early, which is a good idea. Watch the shadows rise from the canyon floor like an inky flood and slowly inch up the ridges and buttes. Jutting into the canyon, the point captures views looking west as the red-rock formation blaze in the setting sun.

The heavenly spectacle doesn’t switch off when the orb disappears beneath the horizon. The light show continues for another 20 minutes as subtle hues wash across the canyon. Bathrooms available. The return shuttle bus stops at Hopi and Mohave points to take sundowners back to the Village. Hopi Point east to Powell Point: .8 mile Hopi Point west to Mohave Point: .8 mile
