• Firstly, orientate yourself by riding the JR Yamanote loop line train around the city.

My favourite spots are all on the west side of the loop:

• bustling Shinjuku and its Kabukichō entertainment and red light district.
• super-trendy Harajuku and its Takeshita-dōri (street).
• ‘Scramble Crossing’, Hachikō and the youth culture of Shibuya.
