Ueno 上野 & Around

Ueno Park & national museums

Sakura at Ueno Park

There’s plenty going on around busy Ueno Station on the JR Yamamote line.

Ueno Park is one of the city’s top cherry blossom viewing spots with over 1,000 cherry trees.

The park is also a museum hotspot - here you’ll find the Tōkyō National Museum, the National Museum of Western Art, the National Museum of Nature and Science and more.

Running beside the Yamanote line tracks between Ueno and Okachimachi (to the south) is colourful Ameyoko, a lengthy stretch of markets selling anything from clothes, bags and cosmetics, to fresh fish, dried food and spices.
