Ginza 銀座 & Around

Luxury stores, galleries & bars

GINZA

Ginza is Tōkyō's most famous upmarket shopping, dining and entertainment district, featuring numerous department stores, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, night clubs and cafes.

Ginza covers quite a large area and is fun to wander around. Its nearby JR Yamanote line station is Yurakucho.

One of my favourite spots in Tokyo is the lively restaurant district under the brick arches beneath the elevated train tracks of the Yamanote Line - known in Japanese as gado-shita, meaning "below the girder". Simple and slightly gritty watering holes, these places rattle as trains pass overhead and take up virtually all of the free space under the tracks.

Also here is the Kabukiza, one of the best places to see kabuki theater, with performances almost every day.
