Quayside to Ouseburn In-a-Day
A pleasant walk along the Tyne to Ouseburn
Just a few years ago an itinerary including the Ouseburn would have been an unusual inclusion in any guide to Newcastle. Ouseburn was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution in the City and famous companies like Malings the pottery manufacturer had their factories here so consequently the area was a little run down to say the least.
Nowadays, however this up and coming location provides interest for the whole family and using my suggested itinerary it's possible to avoid vehicular traffic much of the time while having a really nice day.
NOTE: If you intend to visit the Victoria Tunnel then you will need to book on-line before you go - see website. A visit at 13.30 fits in well with this itinerary but you may have to accept another time slot.
Morning
From Grey's Monument, descend Grey Street, continue onto Dean Street opposite and head to the Quayside by passing under the Tyne Bridge and walk east towards the Millenium Bridge.
