Palacio de Bellas Artes

Palace of Fine Arts

Palacio de Bellas Artes Mexico City

Built from 1904 to 1934, the eye-catching domed Palacio de Bellas Artes blends art nouveau, neoclassical and art deco architectural styles. One of the original Italian architects designed the facade with pillars and sculptures of white Carrara marble. Inside, the elegant theater features a stunning curtain consisting of nearly 1 million pieces of colored glass made by Tiffany of New York.

Cultural Events

One of the city’s top cultural centers, the striking Palace of Fine Arts hosts a range of events, including the Ballet Folklórico de Mexico (a folkloric dance ensemble), opera, symphonies, classical dance and art exhibits.

Murals

Not only does the Palacio serve as a first-rate events venue but it’s also an important museum with superb murals painted by some of Mexico’s most prominent artists, including Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros and Rufino Tamayo. Rivera’s Man, Controller of the Universe and Orozco’s Catharsis are among the renowned works.
