The North Rim In-A-Day

Stop at the Visitor Center for an orientation, maps, and updates on trail conditions and sunrise/sunset times.

HQ Orientation

The paved Transept Trail follows the rim from the Lodge to the North Rim Campground and Bright Angel Point. Standing on the point, you can see hundreds of multi-hued peaks, ridges, and spires across the gorge and hear Roaring Springs far below. The 23-mile North Rim Drive leaves from the Visitor Center and leads to four more spectacular viewpoints.

Uncle Jim's Point-1

One-Day Itinerary–Sunrise Special

If you don’t cook your own breakfast in the campground, catch an early bite at the Grand Canyon Lodge Dining Room (breakfast 6:30–10 am) First stop is a spur to Point Imperial, the highest point on the North Rim, 8,803 feet. Catch the first rays of dawn striking Bourke Point deep in the canyon—magic. Allow 20 minutes for the 11-mile trip from the Visitor Center to the viewpoint.
