Hastings, Rockley & Worthing

As the South Coast Road eases eastwards out of central Bridgetown, into the Parish of Christ Church, traffic slows through the busy suburbs of Hastings, Rockley and Worthing – two of which were named after seaside towns in England.

The two main beaches are at Accra (aka Rockley) and Worthing, connected by picturesque patches of rocky coastline and the relaxing South Coast boardwalk – a tourist-friendly byproduct of a strategy to combat coastal erosion – which really comes to life on Friday and Saturday evenings.

This busy coastal strip is crammed with mid-priced hotels, apartment blocks, bars, restaurants, fast-food outlets, the occasional office and a couple of small shopping centres. interspersed with the odd crumbling building.

Catering for locals and tourists alike, there are places to eat and drink to suit all budgets, from glamorous fine-dining establishments such as Champers and Tapas, to the ubiquitous take-aways of Chefette and KFC.
