South Coast boardwalk

A seaside stroll

A favourite haunt for morning joggers and dog-walkers, the South Coast boardwalk attracts strolling families at weekends and smooching couples in the evening. Less than a mile (1.3km) in length and lined with small vibrant bars and cosy restaurants, the Richard Haynes Boardwalk (to give its official title) was named after an eminent Barbadian politician.

From just west of Blakeys – buzzing at weekends with live music – the boardwalk stretches eastwards towards Accra (Rockley) Beach. It’s the ideal place to stretch your legs or walk off heavy-duty cocktails or an over-indulgent meal, as you’re reinvigorated by the breeze and spray from the surf.

Transport: Any South Coast bus can drop you here. Various #12 blue buses and the sardine-packed ZR#11 pass here.

Otherwise, there’s plenty of safe parking along the road, by the various restaurants or at Accra (Rockley) Beach.
