Champers
Dramatic cliff-top location (l,d; $$$)
Barbadians’ top fine-dining choice, Champers at night is as romantic as the name suggests. Set on a bluff at the east end of Accra Beach, it affords spectacular sea views (provided the neon Chefette sign is out of your eyeline) and dramatic waves crashing onto the rocks below. Dine out on the terrace under the stars, on pristine white tablecloths illuminated by lanterns.
Expect gourmet international cuisine, such as parmesan-topped roasted barracuda, or rack of lamb with minted pea puree. Surprisingly, there is also a reasonably priced kids menu (from around BD$24 for a plate of simple pasta and chicken), which increases its appeal, offering a special family night out, as well as romantic dining.
Lunch is generally preferred in air-conditioned comfort, where the fixed-price three-course lunch menu offers good value at BD$102.
Don’t miss a look round the art gallery, preferably with a champagne cocktail in hand.
