Mt. Desert Island

Acadia National Park is stunning and this is one of the most famous photographer spots. With crystal clear lake water and the two mountain tops off in the distance.

The crown jewel of the Down East region of Maine, Mt. Desert Island is where the sea meets the mountains in dramatic fashion.

Bar Harbor is the main town for the region and it serves as a launch point for Acadia National Park. Its stunning landscape includes Somes Sound—a rare fjard (a glacially carved inlet) that nearly divides the island in two.

And yes, the unpretentious locals really do say, “Ayuh,” to answer in the affirmative.
