Transport

Arrival

Getting to Barbados by air is easy, with frequent direct flights from the US, Canada, the UK and other countries in Europe. All arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI).

The island also gets many cruise ship visitors (especially Dec–April) as Barbados is on the itinerary of a number of Caribbean cruises

Getting around

Getting around Barbados is a lot easier than it is on many other Caribbean islands: roads are in relatively good condition, and public buses are cheap and plentiful along the main arteries.

Whether or not you want or need to rent a car depends on the type of holiday you’re planning, where you are staying, and your budget.

If you are accommodated along (or near) the South and West coasts and intend to spend most of the time in or around the beach, your minimal transport needs can easily be satisfied by using a combination of local buses, tours and taxis.
