While many are close to the city center, consider using a car or ride-hailing service to get around, especially in the heat.

Morning

Start with a visit to the Texas State Capitol, which will give you a feel for the Lone Star State’s big personality. Stroll the few blocks north to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum for an overview of the state’s heritage and history. Across the street, the Blanton Museum of Art serves as a lovely gateway to the University of Texas campus.
