Sacred Valley Archeology
As you would expect, the Sacred Valley of the Incas is full of sacred archeological sites. Most Sacred Valley tours start the morning at Pisac and end the afternoon at Ollantaytambo. However, you don’t usually get to see the whole archeological site if you’re with a group tour.
If you want a deep dive in Inca archeology and history, design your own tour and see these sites on your own. Either hire a private guide for the whole trip, or hire guides at the entrance to each archeological site.
The Sacred Valley archeological sites that are part of the Boleto Turistico are Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Moray. The Maras Salineras are owned by the community which charges s/10 soles. The other sites below are free.
Pinkuylluna and Pumamarca are short walks near Ollantaytambo. Huchuy Q’oqso and Inti Punku are long, uphill hikes that you should plan to take all day or take camping equipment and spend the night.
