Visit a Research Station

The jungle through the eyes of scientists

Orthinologist Reid Rumelt at ACCA’s Manu BioStation & BioLodge

Wish you could do more to save the rainforest? When you come to Peru, consider staying at a research station! This is the best way to directly support the scientists who are doing conservation work and research to save the Amazon.

My favorite of these research stations is Amazon Conservation (ACCA). They have three lodges that welcome tourists at three different places in the Peruvian rainforest in Madre de Dios.

ACCA lodge at Los Amigos, Tambopata River

If you’re going to Puerto Maldonado, you can visit ACCA’s lodge at Los Amigos (above). The cabins are nice and scientists often present their research to visiting travelers.
