Sonche Canyon

Spectacular canyon vista

Waimea Canyon

Most people visit the overlook at the top of the canyon for the view down into the canyon. It’s not a hiking destination, like Ccolca canyon, but it is equally deep and beautiful. There are two main spots to peer down into the canyon: Mirador de Huancas & Mirador Huanco Urco. It’s about a 3 mile walk between the miradors, if you’re looking for a way to turn this into a hike.

Practicalities

Here’s a blog by somebody who loved Sonche Canyon which includes information on how to get there on your own from the city of Chachapoyas.
