St Nicholas' Cathedral
A Cathedral without a Close or Cloisters!
Located at the southern edge of Grainger Town not far from the High Level Bridge, St Nicholas has been a Cathedral for less than 140 years. This explains why there are no Cloisters - it was a parish church from medieval times and was constructed at the end of the 12th Century.
However, there is much of interest to see. Don't miss the medieval stained glass and the Cathedral's crowning (literally) glory - the landmark Crown Spire with its stunning lantern tower!
