Laing Art Gallery
Newcastle's Fine Art Collections

The Laing Art Gallery is located on New Bridge Street just to the east of Grainger town. Designed in the Baroque style with a little Art Nouveau embellishment the Gallery is Grade II listed building.
The Laing was financed by Alexander Laing, a Newcastle wine merchant and is now operated by Newcastle City Council.
The collection includes oil paintings and watercolours by the likes of William Holman Hunt, Paul Gauguin and Victor Passmore not to mention small sculptures by Henry Moore and wood carvings by local wood engraver Thomas Bewick.
