LGBTQIA+

Provincetown 14808

Rainbow flags and New England go together like lobster rolls and lighthouse selfies. Long before same-sex marraige was legal in the US, Massachusetts became the first state to legislate for it in 2004. Trans rights are affirmed as well; Rhode Island led the way in 2001 with gender identity and expression anti-discrimination protections.

Hotspots

Queer communities have thrived here for decades, with many areas bursting with an active LGBTQIA+ scene: Provincetown, Boston (espeically Bay Village), Salem, Northampton, and Burlington.

Pride is not just a month in summer, but a year round celebration everywhere from Providence’s waterfront and up into the Green Mountains.
