Vermont’s Scenic Byways
When the highway won’t do

Vermont is a beautiful state and a great way to enjoy its beauty is by cruising along one of the ten federally designated scenic byways.
Slower than a highway, the byways provide perfect opportunities to take everything in: towns, mountains, lakes, rivers, and farms. These roads are shared between cyclists and cars (also motorcycles), so any of these modes of transport will do!
All the byways are recommended but three stand out.
The Green Mountain Byway
The Green Mountain byway passes the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, the Vermont Maple Outlet, Smugglers’ Notch State Park, and the Ben & Jerry’s Factory Tour.
The Lake Champlain Byway
