Bearizona

Drive-through game park

This 160-acre, drive-through game park features black bears, wolves, dall sheep, mountain goats, and a herd of normal and white bison. The free-ranging animals are most active mornings and late afternoons. Except for the grazing bison, expect to see, or not see, the other animals resting in the shade in the heat of the day. Most of the action is in the walk-though, zoo-type exhibit with bear cubs, fox, bobcats, and barnyard animals.

High Country Raptors, a group dedicated to promoting raptor conservation through education, presents free-flying bird shows at 11 a.m., 1 pm, 3 pm, March–December. Bus tours run 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 3:30 pm. Times vary through the year.

Dine at Bearizona’s 6,000-square-foot restaurant, Canyonlands. This themed restaurant features soaring canyon walls and ancient ruins. The two-story covered deck overlooks the jaguar exhibit with a 25-foot waterfall. Lunch options include in-house hickory smoked barbecue, burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, and fresh salads. Gluten-free and vegetarian options available.
