Smaller Southern Group Islands

Rarely see international visitors

Aside from Rarotonga and Aitutaki, the rest of the Southern Group is barely visited. The only other partially developed destination is the gorgeous eco-island of Atiu.

But if you’re feeling adventurous, it is possible to get to three more islands in the Southern Group on Air Rarotonga - Mangaia, Mauke and Mitiaro

Be aware though, that the limited flights mainly carry locals and that there are minimal facilities for visitors on these remote islands.

If you’re feeling super adventurous, do your homework before you go. Take a virtual tour of islands in the Southern Group.
