Brown Sugar

Bajan buffet (l; $$–$$$)

Note: Temporarily closed at time of publishing - please check 1 246 4267684 for current status.

Housed in an attractive Bajan home, the ever popular Brown Sugar serves some of the finest Creole cuisine on the island. Dining is cosy, on a tiled patio surrounded by wooden fretwork, lush tropical greenery and water features.

The a-la-carte menu is on the expensive side for what is – well presented Caribbean fare, but the planter’s lunchtime buffet deserves its reputation, and offers better value for money. Pile up your plate with pepperpot, pork, fish and all the trimmings: mac pie, pumpkin fritters, buljol and plantain, but leave enough room for the Bajan bread puddings soaked in delicious rum sauce.

There’s even a gluten-free buffet menu available on Fridays. Weekdays the buffet costs BD$69, but the Sunday lunch buffet is the big feast (BD$85), accompanied by steel pan entertainment, to enhance the Caribbean vibe.
