Holetown

The hub of West Coast life is Holetown, offering the best shopping facilities, including a large, well-stocked supermarket and the Lime Grove Lifestyle Centre – the island’s fanciest shopping centre, which hosts a collection of duty-free international designer boutiques, niche stores, a clutch of bars and restaurants, and a cinema.

Don’t miss Marge, the painted cow (above) in the courtyard, an artistic nod to the fact that Limegrove is located on land that was once used for farming.

Across the road, the inspiringly named First Street and Second Street host yet more bars and restaurants, some of which pull in Barbados’ smart set at weekends. South of the supermarket, a string of brightly painted reproduction chattel houses set amidst tropical gardens are good for souvenir hunting.
