SIGHTS & ACTIVITIES

Austin packs plenty of cultural sights and activities into its fairly compact urban core, with a nice selection of worthwhile destinations dotting its outskirts. Start with some History; the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is engaging for all ages, easily visited a couple of hours, and is a good introduction to the Lone Star State.

Art lovers won't be disappointed in the selection of museums; just click Art to start reading about options.

Austin is extremely family-friendly, with plenty to do for Kids & Families and, if the weather is pleasant, head to the Outdoors or take a stroll through the University of Texas or the Texas State Capitol, to see and learn more about the institutions which anchor the city.

Public health concerns in 2020 have caused many cancellations and closures, and because the situation is fast changing we suggest you check the status of any attraction, restaurant, bar or venue shortly before visiting. For links to travel advice and updates see our Health section.
