Aragón
This landlocked region bounded to the north by the Pyrenees and bisected by the great Río Ebro is often overlooked by tourists and neglected by central government. However, it has a rich history and, together with Castile, was one of the two historic kingdoms that were united with the marriage of Ferdinand and Isabella to make Spain.
Famed for the fruit and vegetables from the Ebro valley, game such as hare, rabbit and partridge and jamón from Teruel, Aragón has also earned a deserved reputation for its excellent red wines in particular those from the Somantano D.O.
