Culture

Qhapaq Qolla dancers at the Cusco Cathedral

Modern Andean culture carries on a lot of Inca and pre-Inca traditions, but it’s more than that. Most of it is a syncretic blend of ancient Andean traditions with modern Catholic faith. Dancing, music, songs and costumes are very important, as are the mountains where these traditions take place.

Many coastal cultures in Peru are still considered Andean, even if they’re not entirely mountain cultures.
