Peru’s Archeology In-A-Week

North to south, old to older

This archaeology-packed week will take you from the oldest city in the Americas, Caral-Supe, to the highlights of the Incan Empire, called Tahuantinsuyu.

  1. Arrive in Lima and visit Puruchuco and Mateo Salado.
  2. Drive north of Lima to visit Caral-Supe.
  3. Fly from Lima to Chiclayo to visit the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum.
  4. Fly from Chiclayo to Cusco and visit the Qorikancha in Cusco.
  5. Visit Pisac and Ollantaytambo, take the evening train to Aguas Calientes and spend the night there.
  6. Visit Machu Picchu, then back to Cusco that night.
  7. Visit Sacsayhuaman and nearby sights in Cusco, then fly back to Lima.
