Huaca Rajada

The Lord of Sipan

Huaca Rajada Lord of Sipan Tomb

This is a truly remarkable archeological site due to the discovery of the Lord of Sipán, a warrior and ruler from the Moche culture. He was buried around 250 CE.

When you visit the site, what you see is a replica. The original has been taken to the Museo Tumbas Reales de Sipán, a modern museum about 15 minutes north of Chiclayo.

Practicalities

The archeological site is less than an hour inland from Chiclayo. You can book a tour at any of the tour agencies in Chiclayo or hire a guide on site.
