Chachapoyas

This is a small city with all of the typical attractions of a Peruvian city: Plaza de Armas, cathedral, markets and parks. It’s more of a base to visit nearby attractions than an attraction itself.
It’s not an expensive place and it’s easier to find a cheap hostel than an expensive hotel. That said, there are enough options for lodging that you don’t necessarily have to reserve something before you arrive. Of course, if you’re getting in late at night, then you should get online and book something.
Practicalities
There are very few flights to Chachapoyas, so consider flying to Cajamarca and renting a car or taking the bus.
