Summerhill Park

A hidden gem just outside the City Centre

Summerhill Park is a very pleasant, secluded green area just behind Westgate Road and surrounded by elegant 19th Century Terraced Houses.

One of these houses, 5 Ravensworth Terrace, which overlooks the Bowling Green in the upper park, was featured in the popular BBC Series 'A House Through Time' (link below) which looked at the lives of several of the owners of this house over the years including a vindictive lawyer, a scientist faced with bankruptcy and a doctor involved in a scandal!

The lower park is surrounded by trees and has a path through the centre - just the place to chill after a busy day in the City.

Summerhill Park is quite difficult to find but the best route is to walk up Westgate Hill, above St James' Boulevard, and take the 3rd, 4th or 5th turning on the left, continue for a few metres and the Park is in front of you. The Park is also just behind and above the Discovery Museum and easily reached from there.
