Christchurch Art Gallery
Stimulating exhibitions in a bold building
The city’s impressive art gallery building was opened in 2003. Designed to deal with seismic events, it sustained some damage during the 2010 & 2011 earthquakes, but was used as Civil Defence headquarters when the city was in need.
It re-opened in 2015 with a bold mix of local and international exhibitions and is a source of great pride to the city.
There is also a very tasteful design store here with a range of creative products inspired by the gallery’s collection and exhibitions.
Christchurch Art Gallery sits on Worcester Blvd, between Cathedral Square and Canterbury Museum.
