Shops & Shopping

Buzzy Bee

New Zealand’s no New York or Paris, but if you’re into shopping, you could easily spend a lot of time and NZ$ here.

For a guide to the country’s shopping destination, check Shop Auckland and you’ll find a similar heads-up for NZ’s other main cities: Shop Christchurch; Shop Wellington and Shop Queenstown.

New Zealand offers up a lot of unique souvenirs, many of which fall under the term Kiwiana, that can be sought out and picked up throughout the country.

Arts and crafts are popular with visitors, especially pieces associated with Maori culture that are unique to NZ.

The big cities and Queenstown feature boutique shopping, while a number of Kiwi designers have been doing well on the international stage.

Arts & Crafts Markets and Farmers Markets are particularly popular right around the country.

Good shopping is not just limited to the big cities and alpine resorts. Regional cities and rural areas also throw up unique local products and opportunities to spread the love.
