Boston Public Transit

The T

Charles / MGH T station

Boston’s public transit system, the T, includes a variety of vehicles, subway cars, buses, and even lite rail lines.

Lines

The five color-coded subway lines are straightforward to use, though some lines split up in multiple directions, and it is important to pay attention where a train is going, notably on the Green line, where the lines split after Copley station: Heath passes the museums, while Riverside passes Fenway Park.

Passes

Locals obtain a plastic Charlie Card that they reload as needed. It is also possible to pay using your phone or in cash. A weekly pass provides a significant reduction if you plan to ride more than 9 times.
