The Mount

Elegant estate & gardens

The Mount

Edith Wharton is one of America’s celebrated turn-of-the-century writers. She designed her own home, the Mount, with an eye for design and refined taste.

Today, the house and grounds serve as a museum and cultural center with year round programming.

Visitors can tour the grand rooms where she wrote The House of Mirth, wander through formal gardens inspired by European estates, and stroll wooded trails on the surrounding grounds.
