Gentle ridges, leafy trails, and artsy towns — hiking meets culture in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts.

The Appalachian Trail provides excellent spots for hiking, biking, and leaf-peeping. Especially Mount Greylock, the highest point in the state and perfect for views.

Culture

In summer, Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Purchase the lawn tickets, bring a blanket and go full cheeseboard picnic. The Mass MoCA is a top destination to see contemporary art in the US, especially the kind that invites interaction. Dyanmic installations change frequently and the programming includes performances and drop in events.
