Beacon Hill
Acorn Street’s narrow cobbled pavement, gaslit lanterns, leafy trees, and brick row houses is Boston’s most photographed street for a reason. It’s classically gorgeous.
Luckily, it’s just one of Beacon Hill’s many picturesque spots. Charles Street anchors the neighbourhood with its designer boutiques, artisanal chocolate, and intimate bars and restaurants.
Notable past residents include Louisa May Alcott, Robert Frost, Michael Crichton, and Sylvia Plath.
In the 1700s Beacon Hill was home to a sizeable black community and was a key African-American neighborhood in the city. The Black Heritage Trail, a self-guided walk, remembers this.
