Fall has crisp air and famous Fall Foliage. The students head back to university and it feels a lot like a second New Year.

Temperatures: 40°F to 70°F (4°C to 21°C)

A favorite time to visit; pack layers for chilly mornings and warmer afternoons.

  • The Big E (Mid-September to early October, West Springfield) New England's largest fair — a multi-state exposition with food, rides, livestock, parades, and statehouses from all six New England states.
Fall: Sep, Oct & Nov

  • Head of the Charles Regatta (October) The world’s largest two-day rowing event transforms the Charles River into a high-speed racecourse. Thousands of athletes compete in sleek shells while crowds line the banks to cheer, eat lobster rolls, and shop regatta merch. Expect fall foliage, alumni reunions, and Olympic-level drama on the water
