Fall Foliage

The brilliant reds, orange, and yellows of New England forests in autumn is a wonder to behold. Every hill, park, and neighborhood becomes fodder for Instagram moments. Deciduous trees turn off chlorophyl production for winter to reveal the true color of their leaves. Only the conifers stay green. While the peak generally happens around mid to late October, this website pools individual state reports.
Getting To The Trees
The easiest way to see fall foliage is by car, hiking, or cycling. By-ways have scenic vistas for stopping, while state and national parks offer trails that will seem purposely designed for leaf peeping whether intentional or not. Bus trips are available widely. However, for a kid-friendly and/or romantic way to see the colors, try a train tour.
