Kissariat el Guessabine

Shrine to the king - قصارية القصابين

Kissariat el Guessabine

Just off the very northeastern end of the Jemaa el Fna, the Kissariat el Guessabine is a little group of clothes shops. It's mostly of interest for the shrine to the king and the royal family which one of the shopkeepers has created in the entrance.

A little bit kitsch and sugary it may be, but the shrine proudly declares, "I love my country, my king," and there's no denying it's a labour of love, made from photos, press cuttings, sea shells (why not?) and all sorts of other bits and pieces. A sign invites tourists to take photos.
