Seasons, Festivals & Events

The Flaming Lips - Eden Sessions -

Summer is peak holiday season, with (hopefully) better weather and a wealth of events. Spring and Autumn are ideal times to visit – they’re cheaper and have fewer crowds. Winter brings wind-whipped beaches, big surf and pubs with open fires.

Events

The events diaries of both counties are packed. Highlights include the World Pilot Gig Championships in the Isles of Scilly, big-name bands playing at the magical Eden Sessions, and Exmoor’s Dark Skies Festival.

Weather

As elsewhere in Britain, Devon and Cornwall’s unpredictable weather means it may be warm in January and feel cold in August – bring layers and definitely waterproofs throughout the year.

Booking

Accommodation, sights, activities and restaurants can get booked out even in low season – if you want to do something specific, check whether you need to book in advance. We provide links to the latest hours and details in the Practical Info of each entry.

Spring: Mar, Apr & May

Summer: June, July & Aug

Autumn: Sep, Oct & Nov
