Cove Bay

Views of Pico Tenerife

A hidden gem of the East Coast Cove Bay is tricky to reach, over a rough track across a field, dodging goats and cattle, but worth the effort. A windswept coconut grove interspersed with casuarina trees announces your arrival. Looking south, and beyond the crashing waves, you get a fine view of the striking pinnacle of Pico Tenerife (pictured above).

By car: 18 miles (29km) NNE of Bridgetown. Follow Highway 2A, up the centre of the island to Mile and a Quarter, then northwards to St Lucy’s church, and across to the East Coast.

By bus: Bus #1CB from Princess Alice Bus Terminal (Bridgetown), which travels via Holetown and Speightstown, goes to Pie Corner. From there, walk 0.6 miles (1km) southeast to the bay. Check the bus timetable and note that not all 1C buses travel this way – check with the driver before you get on the bus.
