Zaccio's

Beachside family dining (l, d; $$)

With a great beachside location, Zaccio’s is aimed firmly at families, and eschews fancy decor for a bland cavernous seating area, serving international comfort food at tourist prices. There’s the odd culinary nod to Caribbean cuisine – salt fish buljol and chicken roti, but otherwise the menu is filled with burgers, pizzas (including take-away and delivery), ribs, tacos and curry, though there is also a decent array of lite-bites. Both food and service can be a bit hit or miss, but it is about the only place on the beach on the West Coast that caters for families, hence its inclusion here.

The place is more consistent as a bar, with half-price happy hour (4–6pm) cocktails making it a worthwhile stop. You can watch the sun set, from your bar stool perch.

They also have a much smaller informal outlet on the East Coast, at Bathsheba.

Note: sides and pizza toppings are all calculated separately, so prices can add up.
