Walking & Food Tours

Bridgetown & Speightstown

Parliament Building

Though not on a par with Macchu Picchu or the Taj Mahal, the combined UNESCO World Heritage Site of Historic Bridgetown and the Garrison area is definitely worth a wander. It’s easy (and safe) to stroll around on your own – you can follow our Bridgetown In-a-Day walking tour – or you can hire the services of a local guide, who can fill you in on the history and culture.

Bridgetown

  • Eco Adventures Barbados 1 246 2349010 offers professional 2.5/3hr walking tours of both the Garrison Savannah and Historical Bridgetown (entries not included). Tours generally start early in the morning so you miss the heat of the day, and the traffic. Walking tours US$170 per group of up to ten.

  • Likrish Food Tours 1 246 6221886, as the name suggests, focuses on local food. Resist having a large breakfast, as there’ll be plenty of carb-heavy treats on the menu as you learn, eat and drink your way round central Bridgetown, leaving room for the ice-cream finale in the Agapey Chocolate Factory. 3hr food tour US$80 (children US$60).

Speightstown

For an informative stroll round Speightstown, you should contact Carlos of Kayaking Barbados 1 246 2660951 since he also offers walking tours, which can be done fully on foot, or combined with a spot of kayaking. 2hr walking tour of Speightstown (US$50/person).
