North Point

Crashing waves, blowholes & bracing winds

The vast open ocean and the crashing waves at North Point are as unlike quintessential Barbados as you can get. Yet the sight and sound of the pounding surf and the (often) bracing wind make for an exhilarating experience. Head due North from here and you won’t reach land until you hit the coastline of Quebec (Canada), over 2500 miles/4000km away.

Animal Flower Cave

Nearby are steps down into the Animal Flower Cave, a natural sea cave which has been eroded by the battering of Atlantic waves over thousands of years. Although quite atmospheric, it doesn’t really justify the hefty entrance fee. There’s little to see and do once you’ve looked out at the ocean through the cave entrance, and peered into the small rock pools where two or three tiny sea anemones (animal flowers) can be seen. You can also take a dip in the largest pool.
