Ko Kood

Thailand's next hot spot?

Until recently, Ko Kood (also spelled Ko Kut or Ko Kud), way out near the Cambodian border, was the exclusive domain of tourists willing to spend $1000 a night or more to stay in a luxury resort, but with improved access and the opening of several budget hotels and guest houses, now anyone can enjoy this beautiful island.

West coast beaches

It boasts several uncrowded beaches on the west coast as well as inland waterfalls and dense rainforest. However, due to its rough seas in the rain season, boat services are infrequent between June and October.

Activities

There’s not a lot to do on Ko Kood apart from wiggling your toes in the sand, swimming and sighing at the beauty of it all. For those who feel more active, diving and snorkelling trips can be arranged, and motorbikes are available to rent to explore the island’s few roads.

Boat Several different ferry services, including speedboats and a catamaran, operate between Ko Kood and Laem Sok, a port about 30km south of Trat. Services are occasionally suspended by bad weather.
