Granada

Pomegranate

Grenades in The Borough market. London

Grows naturally in the Mediterranean zone though its origins are in the Middle East.

Harvested from the late summer into autumn, the juicy bitter-sweet seeds of the granada are used to brighten up salads and desserts.

They are also used to make a tasty drink which is becoming increasingly popular for its anti-oxidant qualities.
