Stacks of Duncansby

Sea stacks par excellence

Duncansby Head Panorama

The superby photogenic Stacks of Duncansby are easily viewed from the end of a minor road just 2 miles east of John O’Groats.

Here a small lighthouse gazes out over 200ft-high cliffs sheltering hundreds of nesting seabirds, while a few minutes’ walk south over the grassy headland will bring you in sight of the impressive big sheer-sided monoliths.

The path continues along the coast to the stacks, but if to make a half-day of it and take in a lot more exceptional coastal scenery try the 3hr walk to the stacks from John o' Groats suggested at walkhighlands.co.uk/duncansby.
