Cusco Birding Tours

Four birding locations

Tyrian Metaltail at the Ensifera Ensifera Gardens

Several tour agencies run this tour, or something similar. Check my Birding tour agency recommendations. Times listed below are estimations.

Tours depart Cusco around 6am and you go birdwatching at the Huacarpay wetlands 7-8am. They’ll probably bring a picnic breakfast and serve it at Huacarpay.

Then they drive you to the Bearded Mountaineer Lodge to bird from 9-11am.

Next you drive to the Ensifera Gardens and have lunch there, observing birds until around 4:30.

The last stop is Huaypo Lake, where you get to bird in the evening from about 5-6pm.

You should get back to Cusco by 7 or 8pm.
